Christmas goodies

Our epic gingerbread tree-house
Thanks to my wonderful husband who designed this amazing creation, while we got to add the yummy candies!

We have been busy bees.  We have made salt ornaments, created our own stockings (the kidlets), and was finally able to mark off gingerbread house off the list.  I can't hardly believe Christmas is around the corner! I still have some last minute things to get.  But we can't wait.
Oh and I can't forget to share our Christmas card.  Complete with the fam in pearler beads.  Another one of my husbands genious ideas while searching the craft store for ideas.  We make a great team!

I hope everyone has an amazing Christmas, and a very Happy New Year!!

Creating

New Oriental Rug for the puppy

Engagement gift. Cause I'm tough like that... not really

Stockings I made for my Etsy shop.  I am going for a minimal modern design with a fringe to add an extra touch.  I have more I'm working on.

Toy soldiers monochrome style.  Also in my Etsy shop

I haven't been blogging in ages.  I am feeling a lot better these days. I took a break to deal with my blood pressure and anxiety issues.  I am feeling a whole lot better.  My family keeps me busy.  I am finally getting back to what I love most, creating things.  I took a break, but now I feel invigorated to get making again. Christmas can always get me excited.  I love this time of year, and sharing that with others is my favorite thing  to do.

Things I've Liked Lately

Seriously sums up the last few months.  Not really that bad, but it really did make me laugh! Find it here.

The newest re-ment set.  I'm trying to save up some pennies to get it!  I love the food sets!
Can't get enough of these sandals.  The most comfortable versatile sandals ever!

Can't stop thinking about these.  Thanks to the Brown Eyed Baker.  Totally on my list to bake!

Summer is in full swing.  We are getting a bit of a heat wave so trying to find things for the kids to do indoors at times has been high on the list.
The other day we invested in a telescope so they can observe the birds and creatures, and also we are looking forward to checking out the stars. We love space and it's  mysteries so we are excited!
We have been making a lot of fused bead pictures and watercolors. The kids have been dying to learn how to embroider.  I had my hesitations, with the needle and such, but I couldn't resist their earnestness to learn.
So the each drew a picture and I taught them how to stitch. They instantly loved it.  They love to sit on the couch and listen to a show while they stitch away.  It's a nice quiet time activity as well.
I have been reading a lot this summer.  The kids always take part in the library summer reading, so I've been on the reading kick as well.  I love a good book.
I am now reading "The Girl Who Played With Fire."  Really enjoying it.
One book that I recently finished was "The Help." I'm not kidding when I say, this book was just so excellent.  If you haven't read it, please do.  After I read the book, I watched the movie, and yes, equally as awesome!
Last week I was trying to come up with some new dishes to make for dinner.  My husband is on a no-carb diet, so usually I try to keep a meat main dish in mind.  He came up with the idea for Chicken Cordon Bleu.  I found this recipe.  Okay, its was just so delicious.  The wine cream sauce, well lets just say, you could swim in it!  Make it!
Thank you to the sweet gals who left sweet well wishes.  I really do appreciate it!

I was able to get some of my mini's out this week.  I was really thinking about grilling and cold drinks, and of course yummy summertime desserts.
See ya soon!

Have you ever gone through a period in your life where your not quite sure what it feels like to feel normal ?
This has been my last few months.
I don't typically get too personal over here, but I thought I might divulge what has been happening around these parts.
It all started back in February with headaches, in which I learned I had high blood pressure. Seemed a bit odd for someone of my age and size, but I thought sure I can deal with this.
I had started to get used to the meds, when I started feeling jittery and anxious.  I thought this might be just nerves or side affects of the meds.  It then progressed into full fledged anxiety attacks on a level I wasn't sure I could recover from.
I felt helpless.  I couldn't eat for about a week. What was going on?
Thank goodness the attacks started to subside, but then were replaced by acid attacks and chest pains.... What!
I am still in the process of narrowing this down, but this has probably been the longest several months of my life.
My next journey is to the gastro doctor for a look at my insides.
As a mother to three and a wife, it is not easy feeling so incapable to do alot around the house.  I have always been a busy body, baking, cooking, enjoying my minatures, embroidering.  All of which have been put on the back burner in order to relax and work through it all.
It feels good to share this part of me, because it has been quite challenging.
I have done a whole lot of reading.  I got a Kindle for Mother's Day and have been enjoying it immensely.  I have read the first two books of the Hunger Games, which I absolutely love, and "A Girl Named Zippy", and " She Got Up Off The Couch."  Loved those so much!
Since I haven't felt well, I have really started to notice the little things that matter everyday.  Taking in the little moments, and not taking them for granted.  My husband helps me so much to make these moments special and take them in.  He is so good at being spontaneous.  We have taken a fishing trip with the kids (their first time), built a rocket ship, went go-cart racing.  All firsts for the kids, and the joy that they showed was priceless.  I celebrated my daughters 6th birthday on Friday, crazy how times flies!
Well, I'm off to watch a Netflix movie and eat a piece of leftover chocolate Birthday cake!

A Few Things About Mother's Day

Any and all chocolates are acceptable on this day. In fact they are a must. Served on a platter preferably!
You are by all means to be waited on hand and foot! Slippers are a must! And you know what... Eating Nachos and Desserts on the light colored couch.. Well hell's yeah..it's your day!
Diets? No, this is not even in the Mother's Day equation. We are entitled to all comfort foods, but of course, not cooked by us. As stated earlier, you want to each on the couch, sure..why not? Be sure to sleep in. Spills.. no big deal..not your job today. Showering is definitely optional. Have a great Mother's Day! I know I will. Filled with relaxing, hand-made precious cards, and spending time with my sweet family!

New mini decor

I wanted to use my wonderful new mini's I was so excited to win from the wonderful Megan of modernminihouses.blogspot.com. Such wonderful pieces I can't wait to use in many scenes to come. I wanted to showcase them this weekend. So I had some spare time in between washing the dog, the floors, children, and my hugely messy family room. I just finished up some embroidery and got them shipped out. So my corner of the room looked quite like a tornado came through.
Somehow I keep winning mini's. Nuts. But I'll take it. Such generosity!

Puppies

I found some little cute puppies at the toy store yesterday. I couldn't resist 59 cents each. I needed a little miniature time today. We've had a busy weekend. I am enjoying some quite time while my husband takes the kids thrifting. Ahhh. Deep breath. Quiet... Now to enjoy further quiet....

What's Been Happening?

I got the Re-ment systems kitchen. I was starting to get worried I may regret not getting it. I love the cooking and kitchen aspects of Re-ment. The amount of gadgets, counter space, and sheer genius in the design on a miniature scale blew me away! Love it!

I received a wonderful package from one of my Flickr friends Snikey! She is so dear to pay attention to a comment I had left about how much I love the miniature "Le Creuset" magnets. And she sent one! Amongst other miniature goodies. The gals I have met through collecting Re-ment is just awesome!

The kids and I made a Leprachaun trap for St. Patrick's Day. He outsmarted us, but he did leave us a bit of a rainbow, Skittles!

We have been enjoying the unseasonable weather. So fire up the grill. I made some garlic naan bread, tzaziki sauce, grilled tomatoes and onions, and marinated chicken in a marsala mix. It was delish!
Things have been quite busy in these parts. We are looking forward to taking a break here at the beginning of April. I am planning on working on some embroidery again for my etsy shop. I've taken a bit of a break this winter, but have been asked to make some more pieces. I do love it and can't wait to make some new pieces.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Hello!

Wow, can't believe how long its been since I've blogged. It has been one crazy busy, sick season. As Feburary is heart month, come to find out, I have high blood pressure. Good part is, is that it is not diet related. Apparently it is "in the genes." I was feeling quite strange ( dizzy, flushed, fatigued, crazy headaches). Nutso. So good news I'm on meds. Then my little guy has been under the weather, and then on top of it has an allergy to the meds, which has covered him head to toe in red bumps.
Needless to say I have been one crazy lady.
I have medicated myself by buying some miniatures. So nice to self-medicated by shopping, right?
I have been going through trying to slowly buy re-ment sets that I had formerly missed. The other day I received the re-ment decorative cakes.

I had a wonderful valentines day! Sushi, followed by dessert, and wonderful gifts. We recently started watching "Adventure Time." I had mentioned I would love to have the characters.

Lo and behold, my husband got me Finn and Jake. Yay!
He also had heard me talking non-stop how the library needed to have "Bossy-pant," by Tina Fey. I just finished it the other day, and it was quite hilarious!

We made plans for a family day last Friday and went to see "Arrietty." Wow, if you enjoyed "Totoro" "Kiki's Delivery Service" or any of Hayao Myazaki, you will not be disappointed. It was really beautiful drawn. The story line is wonderful too, based on the book "The Borrowers." My kids loved it!

I hope to get to work on my room boxes again. I am always inspired by other's dollhouse creations! The entries for the "I'm A Giant" contest were simply amazing.

We had fun making goodies this month for valentines day. As a chocolate nut, I made some delicious chocolate heart brownies. Love love this recipe!
Then I made some cookies for a valentine party for the kids. I have been wanting to make a cookie with jam inside forever. So I made some hearts with rasberry and apricot preserves. They were delicious. They are a Martha Stewart recipe I found. They tasted amazing with coffee.

So good, you should make them.
I hope to be here again sometime soon. I love reading other's blogs, and thank you to those who stop by for a visit and leave wonderful comments. They brighten my day!
